Á Setrinum hava vit umleið 1000 lesandi, 150 starvsfólk og 30 útbúgvingar. Útbúgvingarnar eru skipaðar sum bachelor-, master- og ph.d.-lestur. Í løtuni lesa umleið 50 master, og 20 ph.d.-lesandi eru innskrivað á Setrinum. 50 granskarar arbeiða á Setrinum.

Endamálið hjá Fróðskaparsetri Føroya er sambært løgtingslóg at inna gransking, geva frálæru á hægsta stigi og breiða út kunnleika um vísindalig úrslit og háttaløg. Granskingin hevur til endamáls at menna vísindaliga stigið á Setrinum og í landinum.

Fróðskaparsetur Føroya skipar sjálvt fyri virksemi sínum innan fyri teir karmar, sum løgtingslógin um Fróðskaparsetrið frá 2008 og seinni broytingum setur.

Virksemið á Setrinum speglar altíð samfelagslig áhugamál, og Setrið er altíð til reiðar at taka ímóti uppskotum frá myndugleikum og vinnulívi.

Á Fróðskaparsetrinum eru fimm fakultet: Føroyamálsdeildin, Námsvísindadeildin, Søgu- og samfelagsdeildin, Náttúruvísindadeildin og Deildin fyri heilsu- og sjúkrarøktarvísindi.

Meginfyrisitingin er á Setursskrivstovuni.

The University of the Faroe Islands is our university, where research and teaching are at the heart of its activities

At the University we have about 1000 students, 150 staff and 30 graduates. The programs are organized as bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral studies. Currently, about 50 master’s students and 20 PhD students are enrolled at the University. 50 researchers work at the university.

The objective of the University of the Faroe Islands, according to the law of the Faroe Islands, is to conduct research, provide education at the highest level and disseminate knowledge of scientific results and methods. The research aims to develop the scientific level at the University and in the country.

The University of the Faroe Islands organises its activities within the framework of the Act on Higher Education from 2008 and subsequent amendments.

The activities of the University always reflect societal interests, and the University is always ready to receive suggestions from authorities and business.

The University has five faculties: the Faculty of Faroese Languages, the Faculty of Educational Sciences, the Faculty of History and Society, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, and the Faculty of Health and Nursing.

The main administration is in the University Office.
